My Story & Experience

Growing up and knowing that I was attracted to men is what sets my mentality apart. I spent much of my childhood feeling isolated, shameful, and embarrassed of who I was. I felt as though I couldn’t speak to my closest friends, family, or mentors about my most hidden secret. The shame caused me to turn inward and left me to figure out what being a gay man was for myself. If I can help anyone, especially those who identify as LBGTQ, I feel I am doing what I can to prevent someone from going through what I went through. My goal is give anyone guidance and coaching who is willing to accept my help.

Going through life I had this image that certain people "had it all figured out" and others didn't.  As I've surrounded myself with people that inspire me, push me to pursue my dreams, and encourage risk taking as long as it comes with a thought out plan, I have realized we are all figuring it out as we go.  As we progress we are hoping it looks like we “have it all figured out”. Being vulnerable and dropping my ego when working with clients is my number one goal.

Coaching for me was the answer to that.  Thinking through my life journey, it would have benefitted me significantly to have a coach available to help convince myself I am not a "dreamer" or "unrealistic".

Education & Experience

Coaching Certifications

I am a certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). NASM is the industry leader in personal training certification that requires every trainer pass their certification exam. In addition to their exam, NASM requires all trainers to log a minimum of 20 contact hours in continued eduction every 2 years in order to keep their badge of certification. Lastly, NASM requires all trainers to be CPR/AED certified at all times.

I am also a certified Health & Life Coach. Empowerment Coaching Network is a local company in Grand Rapids, MI specializing in organizational, leadership, and personal coaching development. With a focus on conversational management the training provided me with crucial skills to ensure I am apt to coach any individual.

5 Years Management Experience

Small Business: R-Athletics is a locally owned gymnastics facility. In the 3 years as the program director I oversaw a team that developed over 1000 athletes. My role was to train, support, and develop coaches on a daily basis through individual and group education/coaching. In addition to my program director role, I was on the ground coaching athletes 30+ hours per week.

Corporate Business: lululemon Athletica is a wellness powerhouse using their medium of retail sales to develop and create powerful professional development. Over the 2 years as a Key Holder I was responsible for community outreach and team leadership. This really honed in my leadership skills and helps me to this day tailor my approach to each client I work with.

Self Lead Development

This is the experience that sets me apart from other coaches. Over the last 7 years I have devoted endless hours to reading books, researching emotional intelligence, practicing coaching techniques, listening to podcasts on leadership, personal/professional development, sexuality, lifestyle, and more. This practical learning was then solidified in daily journaling and personal practice. Through leading myself and implementing techniques on myself, I found the personality that comes out during coaching sessions.
